“I want to help foster and perpetuate a vibrant Jewish culture in Connecticut and connect with other people who want to do the same.”
- Jonathan Snyder, YAD member

Are you longing to make the world a better place and provide your children and grandchildren the benefits that your parents provided for you? It takes vision, action and team work - and it takes you! With so many opportunities for young adults to be engaged in Jewish life, you can get involved, add meaning to your life, and help create the Jewish world you and your children need.

The Young Adult Division (YAD) of the Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven is the place for you. YAD members participate in social and educational programs and tikkum olam (social action) projects that make a real difference in our community. It is as simple as attending an event, volunteering or taking a class. Last year, we built a sukkah for the elderly residents of Tower One / Tower East and caught performances of plays on Jewish themes at the Long Wharf Theater. Recently, over 150 gathered to see world-renowned slam poet Vanessa Hidary at the JCC in Woodbridge. In January, we enjoyed a terrific discussion at the Owl Shop with “Heeb Magazine” arts editor and author Shana Leibman.

Our parents, grandparents, and great grandparents have illuminated the way for each of us to find our own way to identify Jewishly. It is every generation’s responsibility as members of the Jewish community to inspire each other to embrace our past, create a more meaningful present and ensure that our ideals and values live on. There are many more YAD programs in the works - all designed to give you the forum for learning and action that satisfy your desire to be active in your Jewish community.
