JFS Food Pantry Seeks Immediate Donations for those with Medical Concerns Back

The Jewish Family Service Food Pantry provides food to those in our local community who are struggling to make ends meet. Currently, more than 210 local families (accounting for more than 650 individuals) receive non-perishable food on a monthly basis. Lately, JFS has received many requests from clients for special foods due to medical concerns such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart concerns, just to mention a few.

JFS is able to stock the pantry shelves through food purchases from the Connecticut Food Bank and donations from members in our community. Unfortunately, many of the requested items are not readily available at the CT Food Bank. To help meet the needs of its clients, JFS is seeking donations of any non-perishable foods of the following types:

Kosher Foods
(any type);

  • Low Salt/No Salt
  • Low Sugar and Sugar Free
  • Low Fat/No Fat

Year-round needs are:
  • KOSHER foods
  • soups
  • stews
  • canned pasta
  • canned meats
  • oatmeal
  • cereal
  • canned fruit and juices

To arrange for a donation drop off, please contact Sandy Hagan, JFS Coordinator of Agency Operations at 203 389-5599 x121.
