Howard Fineman, a political analyst for MSNBC, contributing writer with NBC News, and a columnist with Newsweek, will be speaking about his perspective on national politics and the media in the era of President Donald Trump. Congregation Beth El in New London is bringing this important political journalist to Southeastern CT as this year's Weiner-Tom speaker. Mr. Fineman will speak at Temple Emanu-El at 29 Dayton Road in Waterford, Connecticut on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at 7:30 p.m.

“We are thrilled that Mr. Fineman has agreed to share his insights with and visit Southeastern Connecticut,” said Judi Goldberg, president of Congregation Beth El, which is sponsoring the event in conjunction with the Jewish Federation of Southeastern Connecticut and the Weiner-Tom Lecture Fund. “It is a real ‘coup’ for our congregation; we are honored that he will take time out of his schedule in Washington, DC to be with us,” continued Goldberg.

Howard Fineman is one of the most-respected and informed political analysts and reporters working today. He has covered closely, and spent private time with, president Donald Trump and his four most recent predecessors: Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and George H. W. Bush. He formerly served as global editorial director of the Huffington Post media group. In that role, he steered content and guided strategy for a monthly unique readership of roughly 200 million. His vision for HuffPost contributed to its current position as one of the top US news sites on the Internet in terms of both traffic and regard. He has interviewed and written about every major Presidential candidate since 1984. Fineman is one of the most in-demand speakers regarding the intersection of politics and the new media.

Mr. Fineman’s presentation at Temple Emanu-El will include a question and answer session following the talk. Admission to his presentation is $18 per person, and advance reservations are appreciated. There will be a private reception and dinner prior to his appearance and speech for a donation of $180 per person. Please RSVP to the Congregation Beth El office, 860/442-0418, or send an email to: office@bethel-nl.org. Space for the private event is limited, so please respond early if you wish to attend.
