Jewish Coalition for Literacy

Founded in 2004, the Jewish Coalition for Literacy (JCL) is an award-winning project of the Jewish Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven, partnering with seven New Haven public schools.

The JCL recruits, trains, places, and supports volunteer reading partners in our local public schools, meeting one-to-one with children to share the pleasures of reading and conversation while enjoying learning in a relaxed, nurturing environment. Students benefit from the interaction with a caring adult, learning together. No previous experience needed.

For more information, contact JCL Coordinator, Emily Kurz at (203) 387-2424 x306 or emilyk@jccnh.org.
