YESHIVA BEIS DOVID SHLOMO MISSION STATEMENT

YBDS is dedicated to offering an academically challenging and strong traditional Jewish education by providing a comprehensive, well-balanced curriculum.

Our atmosphere is serious but warm, conducive to learning and success. Our primary goal is to empower our students with Jewish values so that they will go out into the world with an unwavering devotion to living a moral and ethical life and to be upstanding citizens, loving their Jewish identity. Upon graduating, students will be equipped with the critical thinking skills needed for success at institutions of higher learning. They will also leave our doors, knowing that the values they have internalized are more important than the content they have absorbed or the tests they have passed.

Finally, it is our vision that the Yeshiva community: staff, students, and parents—be devoted to studying Torah, to achieving excellence, and to demonstrating a spirit of cooperation and friendship. In reaching toward that goal, Yeshiva emphasizes the importance of good midot such as:

· Ahava – love for G‑d, Torah, Klal Yisrael, Eretz Yisrael, Mankind and all of Hashem’s creations.

· Kavod - respect for others and their property

· Tzniut – modesty in dress, speech and actions

About Us

Yeshivas Beis Dovid Shlomo enjoys worldwide recognition for its excellent academics and the achievements of our students. Due to our well-known reputation, YBDS attracts students from as far away as Europe, Australia and the Far East.

Along with our superior standards of academic excellence, we also place particular emphasis on developing the Jewish leaders of the future. Our students understand that the lofty concepts they study are meant to be put into action.

The Yeshiva Gedolah of New Haven was started in the home of Reb Dovid & Sara Deitsch in 1976. It was a thriving program for post-Zal/Shlichus for many years.  Reb Dovid passed away in 2002.  In 2005 a high school program was opened in his memory.

Yeshiva Bais Dovid Shlomo was founded in 2005-5765, with one class of twenty students.  Word spread rapidly and the demand for more classes quickly started.  In 2009-5769 the Zal program was started. YBDS has grown in just a few short years to a center of Jewish education for over 150 students.

Our impact on the lives of our students is evident from the fact that they stay in touch, keep coming back - to visit and to mentor other students.
