It is said that half of all American Jews have at least one ancestor from Poland. In July, an intrepid band of BJ and BEKI members took a trip to the complex nation of Poland. After an exhilarating tour concentrating on the Jewish highlights (and lows) of the country, we spent four amazing days with a group of Poles and American Baptists, restoring the Jewish cemetery of Markuszow to dignity. Uncovering historical treasures there, we concluded with a touching ceremony including townspeople, dignitaries and the regaled Bishop of Jewish-Christian Dialogue for Poland. This presentation by our group is that story.
