Our month of Elul programming begins with a Shabbat Schmooze with Annie Norman-Schiff, our Education Director. Her topic is “Time and Uncertainty: Fixing the Date of Yom Kippur in Jewish History.” Annie will discuss some of the arguments that ancient Jews had about the proper date for Yom Kippur, based on information from the Dead Sea Scrolls as well as Rabbinic sources, while asking the question, “How does time both separate people and bring them together?” Join us Saturday, August 19 at 12:45, after services and kiddush lunch, for some adult learning as we prepare for the High Holy Days.

Please note that all events offered by the Jewish Federation, Foundation, and JCC of Greater New Haven may include photography.
