Dr. Ilan Harpaz-Rotem, Professor of Psychiatry and of Psychology at Yale, will speak on the topic “Intergeneration and Current Trauma: The complexity of trauma in the context of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.” While trauma is his field of expertise, this talk will also be personal. Prof. Harpaz-Rotem grew up not far from Gaza, served in the Israeli Defense Forces, and most recently had a cousin and her 13-year-old daughter abducted by Hamas on Oct. 7 then released on Nov. 29. This personal connection to trauma will also be part of his presentation.
