After kiddush lunch, you are invited to walk down to Valley Street, just below BEKI, for a tour through the Botanical Garden of Healing. Dedicated to victims of gun violence in New Haven, the one-acre garden, designed by Svigals + Partners, includes a sculpture, benches, trees, shrubs, and thousands of flowers planted by volunteers with Urban Resources Initiative (URI). Conceived by Marlene Pratt and three other mothers who lost children to gun violence, the garden includes a brick walkway inscribed with the names and ages of over 600 victims since 1976, all arranged chronologically. The garden is designed not only to offer a tranquil place for families to remember a loved one, but also to spark conversation and action. Our tour guides will be Jay Brotman from Svigals + Partners and Marlene Pratt. If the weather is horrible, the tour will be postponed until July 31.

Please note that all events offered by the Jewish Federation, Foundation, and JCC of Greater New Haven may include photography.
