Yom Hashoah Commemoration

2:00PM - 4:00PM

Please join us as we commemorate the Shoah and welcome guest speaker, Rabbi Phillip (Feivel) Lazowski. Rabbi Lazowski was born in 1930 in Bielica, Poland, and experienced the Nazi occupation when he was only 9 years old. He will tell the story of his survival against all odds: How he hid in a cave, escaped from the ghetto, and eventually lived in the woods for more than two years; How he got separated from his parents and then found them again; and how sheer luck and the kindness of strangers made the different between life and death.

The community is invited to participate in a special candle-lighting ceremony to honor our survivors and survivor families during the program, and to take home candles to light on Wednesday evening when Yom Hashoah begins. The candle lighting is made possible in partnership with the Or Shalom Men’s Club.
