Professional Israel Experience Scholarship to Participate in Federation’s Community Trip to Israel

The Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford and the Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven are hosting a joint Community Israel experience, March 9-16, 2023.  The goal is to have 200 people go to Israel for the first time or to fall in love with Israel again!

Since Israel is central to Jewish peoplehood and travel is one of the most inspiring and effective ways to strengthen overall Jewish identity, we believe it is a beneficial for tier-one agency professional leaders working in Jewish institutions in Greater New Haven, to have the opportunity to experience this powerful, seminal Jewish experience.

Therefore, the Jewish Federation Board of Directors have agreed to provide funding for up to 4 senior professional leaders in our Jewish community.

Participating in this mission will further deepen our professionals’ commitment to their work and strengthen their overall effectiveness as Jewish community leaders by:

  • Gaining historical, religious, political, and cultural education essential to understanding the uniqueness of the State of Israel and the Jewish people’s durable connection to the land.

  • Experiencing Israel’s biblical landmarks, modern cities, natural wonders, various cultures.

  • Interacting with the diverse and passionate people of Israel and learning the complexities of Israeli life.

  • Forging meaningful relationships with the community members they serve.

Expectations

  • Federation will subsidize the travel ($4,950 land costs and $1299 for airfare)

  • The individual agency will invest $1000 to subsidize the trip costs

  • The professional must report to the agency and / or the Federation board of directors following the trip

  • A written article for Shalom New Haven must be submitted regarding the impact of the experience
