United In Mourning

The Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven, and its Jewish Community Relations Council, offers our most sincere condolences to the people of France and President Hollande. In Tel Aviv, former President of Israel, Shimon Peres, addressed the rally in French with these words, "Nous sommes tous Francais.  We are all French. We stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of France in the war against the barbaric terror that threatens the peace of the whole world. Your war is our war. Your values are our values. They are the values of the entire world." Following the jihadi attacks in Paris, Prime Minister Netanyahu stated, "An attack on any of us is an attack on all of us, and must be condemned with unwavering determination."

The Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven joins with the other six Federations in the State and our umbrella organization, JFACT, to applaud Governor Dannel Malloy's announcement that the Flag of France will immediately fly over the Connecticut Capitol building and outside the Governor's residence. He said, "We must stand up against terrorism and extremism across the world."

With shock and pain at this horrific, inhumane, and nihilistic act by the Islamic State, we are united in mourning the loss of innocent lives and pray for those who have been injured in the City of Light and the land of Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité.
