Congregation B’nai Jacob Commemorates 90th Birthday of Martin Luther King

On January 18, Congregation B’nai Jacob hosted a celebration of the 90th birthday of Martin Luther King by including a gospel singing event included in its customary Friday evening service. A combined choir consisting of the Valley Soul and the Shoreline Soul groups, together with the B’nai Jacob Sweet Singers serenaded a large audience of congregation members and church members from the Soul groups’ churches. The group was led by Angela Clemmons. Clemmons has been a backup singer for many nationally known singers. Her spirited leading helped to enthuse both the singers and the audience.

Rabbi Shapiro delivered an inspiring message about King  and what he meant for the country. In a short talk by synagogue president Adam Dworkin, he invited the group to present a repeat performance next year.
