Jewish Farmers in Eastern Connecticut on CPTV

As part of Jewish Heritage Month, CPTV will broadcast Jerry Fischer’s movie about Jewish Farmers in Eastern Connecticut on Thursday, May 25, at 8 p.m., with a weekend repeat.

This historical documentary tells the story of Jewish farmers in Eastern Connecticut, who came to the U.S. to escape Nazi persecution. They arrived in New York City and were forced to live in terrible conditions and work in sweatshops. To escape these horrible conditions, many of these Jewish refugees accepted the help of the De Hirsch Fund and the Jewish Agricultural Society to farm land in Connecticut.
